another good reason to stay out of that store.

Ditto @soorlady !  I do not like that store.  One time I went to the Union store and this jackass wanted to pick a fight with my boyfriend for a stupid reason. You could see this guy just was looking for trouble.  I was so upset that I swore never ever to walk into Wal Mart again !

I was in Walmart (union) with a leg injury and a 'faith healer' insisted on praying for it to be cured...and that it would work....it hasn't yet..

i think the Walmarts in Watchung and Linden actually have reserved police parking spaces

My reasons for not shopping at Walmart have nothing to do with the safety factor.   Our government gives them tax breaks and our taxes have to subsidize their underpaid employees through assistance programs - I figure they're already getting enough of my money.

And DYFS (or whatever they call themselves these days) could open an office in the stores....parents like to use the store as daycare..letting the kids play in the aisles unsupervised.  I was almost seriously injured by kids playing ball in the stor

Based on the skill level I have experienced by many walmart employees, they don't have the skill to be paid better...If I could only get a minimum wage job, I would find roommates and share an apartment so I didn't rely on taxpayers.  I wouldn't have kids that I couldn't properly provide for....hey wait a minute.....I don't have kids...I can't afford kids..and made sure I didn't get pregnant..if that is okay for me, there is no reason why people who can only work in walmart have a right to kids.

If they start paying Walmart workers good, they will attract skilled labor...and taxpayers will be paying more benefits for the former workers who can't get a job anymore.

Everyone has a right to have kids. Just because you chose not to doesn't make that the correct decision for everyone.

Actually, the articles didn't focus on what many MOLers did.  Walmart paid minimum wage knowing there were various governmental programs such as SNAP (food stamps) that would supplement its staffs' income.  Now rather than hire security guards, it relies on local police departments to do those tasks.  Same ploy.  And all of us pay for this through our taxes.

Four WalMarts, 2000 calls

Four Targets, 300 calls

This picture, there's something wrong with it.

Why steal from The Gap when you can steal from Old Navy?

Walmart has hundreds of Department of Labor investigations into its illegal payroll practices.  They also have thousands of lawsuits by employees, ranging from unpaid overtime/wages to employment discrimination.  I refuse to go near one of these stores.

They should move out of the higher crime areas and focus on higher income neighborhoods like target tries to do.

One of the (many) problems with Wal Mart is that the worst of America is there in large numbers.  It's like the cop in the article said... all his criminals are in one place.
