Voluptuous Women Clothing Question oh oh

I am going a bit crazy looking for a couple of things for my wardrobe:

Where do you get raincoats? Not lined or heavily lined.. It seems like most stores stop at XL, I am a 1x or 2x depending on cut.

Where do you get shoes in a wide width? Macy's and Lord & Taylor stopped carrying wide shoes!! DSW has practically nothing either.

Thanks!

Can't help with raincoats, no one seems to wear them here any more.

For shoes, these seem a little pricey but you can Design Your Own! smile

Woman Within is another online site that has a range of styles and sizes into the sizes you've mentioned. They are decent quality for casual clothing - don't know if they carry raincoats though.

Raincoats live. Unlined and lined. The Women's department at Lord & Taylor definitely has raincoats as you described in stock. Just saw them last week You should also check out Macy's women's department (You can do both in the same trip at the Livingston Mall). If you either open a credit card, or agree to get texts of sales, you can get some terrific coupons and prices. And, Nordstroms has a very nice women's department and while I haven't seen raincoats, I did buy a winter coat in the same size range a few years ago. Also Talbots has some very nice clothing in the plus range, but I have no idea if they have raincoats.

Regarding shoes, I am an 11W or WW, so I know this problem well and it is much harder to find shoes than clothing. The Globe Shoes in Paramus has a huge selection of shoes, running in women's from Sizes 4 to 13 and Widths 2A to EE. They are open from Mon. thru Sat. 9:30 to 9:00. Being in Bergen County, they are not open Sunday. (Set your GPS for the Ikea, which is adjacent). It is not particularly fashion forward, but then again, neither am I. They also have many options including winter boots, sneakers, slippers, walking shoes, nurses shoes and even Cowboy Boots.

Nordstrom's is famous for its range of shoe sizes and widths. They definitely have shoes in wide widths. Both stores have excellent customer service and will bring shoe after shoe to find the right size although Nordstrom's is probably friendlier.

Ordering online, Zappos, shoebuy.com, and even Amazon all carry many wide shoe options. Unless I know my size in a particular brand and model, I find ordering shoes in various sizes on something like Zappos, and then having to return most, if not all if they don't fit, even with free shipping, is far more tedious than just going to Globe on a Saturday or evening after work and trying on and buying the shoes.

Another difference between Globe and Nordstroms is Globe has a very stringent return policy - not worn and something like a seven day window. Nordstrom's has a famously liberal return policy. Even with that, I somehow do better at Globe but that is just personal preference.

Hope this helps!

The internet is your friend. While some stores don't carry a large selection of Women's sizes, their web sites do. L&T, Talbots, for instance. Also, don't discount Lands End products.

Boden has cute stylish rain coats up to a 18

Have you tried Avenue, Lane Bryant, Torrid - both in person and their online stores? There is a UK online store called Simply Be that has some great products as well.

Try ASOS.com They have a section called Curve with plus sizes and usually have a great selection of coats. I got a great leather moto jacket from them last year for under $200.

Thanks all!! I will check out Lord and Taylor again for raincoats and some of the other stores too!

As for shoes, does Zappos care if you order 10+ pair and return them all? I will try Nordstrom again, I just find a lot of their shoes don't fit me very well. Forget the bigger name brands, they tend to fit tight even in wide!

Macy's frustrates me, it has a great boys/mens department, always neat and clean. But the plus size women's department is always a mess. JMO but it's like an upscale Kohls, but not as nice or neat. Also, in Short HIlls it is always to hot in the store for me to try on clothes and there is never any help (OK menopausal rant over oh oh

Zappos doesn't seem to care what you do, that's how good their customer service is. But 10 pairs might be a touch excessive... Any chance you could do this in smaller waves? You get the shoes overnight, after all.

I have ordered many shoes at a time from Zappos, because I have very high arches and a lot of shoes don't fit. What I love is that you've got 365 days to return. And they are incredibly fast. They have made returning as easy as they can. I still don't love it, but in comparison to shopping in a store....definitely less aggravating.

The problem with ordering a bunch of shoes at once with the intent of returning most of them is that they come in a giant box, and it's really easy to postpone wrestling that giant box into the car to take them to the UPS Store to return them, and the box can end up turning into a sort of end table in a back room that you'll forget about until it's too late to return the shoes. Not that this has actually happened to me.

That is true about the big box. I guess I order enough other stuff to pack 2 or 3 pairs of shoes in a smaller box. And if I have to pay for a couple of returns, it adds up. So, I'm not a big shopper. Certainly not a bargain shopper in that realm.

bad news ladies, Nordtroms no longer carries shoes in wide width except for Munro shoes. Sigh, they may be comfortable but they are ugly...

Go online to full beauty.com. They have everything you want or need. It's a conglomeration of many places. Avenue, Jessica London, tallessime, Chadwick's, torrid, etc.
