Voltage reduction in Maplewood?

Earlier this evening (Monday, April 4), our lights seemed dimmer than usual. Thought it was my eyes for a moment! We have a generator, which hadn't kicked on, so it wasn't a major issue, and all the clocks and other digital displays kept their power. Everything just looked dim, starting in the late afternoon. Then, just around 6 P.M. this evening, all the lights went back to full power and looked normal again. Curious, no?

I was wondering if anyone else noticed any issues around the same time. We were not running any heavy-duty appliances at the time, no trees have gone down in the immediate area, and there's no work being done on the street.

I'm just wondering what could have been the issue. I'll try calling PSE&G tomorrow, but for a non-emergency question, I don't have much hope of getting an answer.

eta: I'm in Maplewood, up the street from the Municipal Building on Park Road.

Same thing in Hilton. My kid also noticed it over the weekend. ?????

Now that you mention it, I recall thinking the dimmer switch had been pushed sometime in the past few days - can't recall which day. So, this might be an ongoing issue. I had forgotten about the previous time until I read your post.

Yep. . . It happened at our house too (Elmwood Ave).

Sorry, I've been using my hair dryer a lot.

My hair does look fabulous, but I'll try to use a little more restraint.

As I recall, Monday was windy. In January, new pole was installed in front of our house. Since then, when it is windy, lights flicker and computers shut off for an instant. This indicates a loose connection that gets separated in windy conditions. P.S.E.&G. has made two trips out.

Is it possible that the problem with an area outage is with a loose connection at a central point?
