TD-Thanks for the info. Would you be able to share more info about your experience--maybe via PM? I am looking for someone who can do some "hand holding" oh oh with the parent, who is having trouble seeing through the "hype" about how competitive the college admissions process is.

I knew Emily when she was an admissions officer at Columbia, my alma mater. I was more involved with alumni stuff back then (honestly in hopes that one of my kids might go to Columbia, but not to be). After Emily left Columbia she set up her own college admissions advising business and I know some other parents that have used her and been very pleased. Emily is very nice, whip smart, and has lots of experience, but fit is probably a key component in a college counselor that is hard to judge from a resume. It would be worth your time to give her a call and see if she can do what you need.

Just a word of caution that you may want to ask the cost before you start a conversation, if cost is an issue.

Another option in Millburn is Collegewise. They are owned by Princeton Review, I believe. The local counselor (Rhiannon Schade) is absolutely awesome.
