Uber Question

I'm supposed to go to a Broadway show tomorrow during a matinee performance. Given the weather, I downloaded the Uber app should NJ Transit be delayed tomorrow.  I've never used Uber before.  Do I schedule a driver in advance (as in tomorrow morning) or do I schedule a driver within 30 minutes (or less) of needing them?

you can't schedule Uber in advance. It might be busy tomorrow with drivers snowed in so, yes, I'd hit the request 30 minutes before the latest time you want to leave

I use uber frequently to get back and forth to the airport.   You can't book it in advance.   About 15 to 30 minutes before you want to leave here, open the app and request a ride.  You will be able to see if cars are in the area.      Sometimes the car is very close, sometimes it is not.

edited to say cross post

Depending on the weather Uber might not be running either tomorrow as of today their service is suspended. I am a frequent Uber user but if the roads are not good I'm not sure I would trust someone I don't know to drive me into the city.

Yeah, no word yet on when they'll resume service. We all got texts today informing us that the app is unavailable in New Jersey until further notice. Then they said that they'll be in touch with any updates - that was at 11am and it's been radio silence since then. The rider app doesn't give you any further information either at this point.

The city is in lock-down. If that is not lifted, there will be no uber into Manhattan.

Ban on automobile traffic will be lifted, 7:00 a.m., Sunday.

Use my invite code, 28yq3, and get a free ride up to $15. Redeem it at https://www.uber.com/invite/28yq3

uber says it is back up and available but there are still address under emergency (Newark included) that will not be active. It looks like you could get a car here though. Look out for surge pricing though. Still, at the rates uber is giving riders these days, it's cheap even at 2x the normal rate.

Are the bridges and tunnels between NY and NJ open again?  They were closed yesterday due to the snow emergency.

Yes.  I know several people who drove to NYC this morning for work since NJ transit wasn't running yet.
