Traffic light needed --- Irvington Avenue.

Irvington and Essex is across the street from the day care center. Parents park on Essex and then navigate across Irvington, wrangling their toddlers --- twice a day.

Weekday mornings are accompanied by constant horn blowing and an occasional accident. So far, no pedestrians have been hurt but it is overdue.

Good luck.  I would start with the town engineer's office since Essex Avenue is a local street.  What complicates matters is that Irvington Avenue is a County Road.  The County would have to approve a traffic light at that location.  it took six years to get County approval for the traffic light on Valley Street and Oakview Avenue, which in addition to Valley Street being a County road is the main thoroughfare for commuters walking to and from the train station, visitors walking to and from Town Hall and students walking to and from Maplewood Middle School and Columbia High School.  The traffic light at Valley Street and Person/South Pierson took even longer since it was mainly used by children going to and from school.

An advantage to this proposal, is the political pull of the school, itself.
