I love the subject line of this thread. From reading it, you would think that it's a done deal and TJ is certainly coming to our area. As Wendy suggested...I would reccomend you read THIS THREAD.
My guess is the rumor started here when WF announced their move and some of us suggested it would be a great place for a new TJ's.
My brother once tried to start a rumor at his company that the headquarters was moving from NJ to Colorado (he is an avid snowboarder). He was hoping it would somehow get to managment who would think it was a fact and act on it. To his chagrin it didn't work, but his director did ask him if he had heard anything about being bought out by company based in Colorado.
I thought Trader Joe's was moving into the old RR store in Maplewood village ...... In fact im sure there was a Trader Joe's truck there the other day and they were doing a trial store layout and they were hiring staff already, and the carpark round the corner (the NJ Transit Train lot) was being rezoned as Trader Joe's parking - must validate ticket to use.
If I am correct - there will be three TJs in Bergen County - Ridgewood or Westwood, Paramus, and now Edgewater. Why oh why can't we any more around here? We normally make the trip to Florham park about once a month or so. The Westfield store is always way too crowded.
oh well... I'll be happy when the Stop and Shop finally opens in Union.
I answered that question about why there's not more around here on the other thread (due to the dearth of liquor licenses and profit margins). If you don't buy the wine/beer at TJs, then I suggest you go a few hours before noon on Sunday to the Westfield one and you shouldn't have a problem with the crowds.
My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw people from Trader Joe's at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
I do know for a fact that TJ was in negotiations with the landlord of that space. I have not yet heard the final outcome. I can try to find out from my Millburn sources.
Oh well my Millburn sources tell me that TJ are about to buy out Rite Aid and the Fitness shop's lease and that they will be expanding the building into a mult-storied MEGA-Trader Joes store set to open in Q3 2008. Supposedly it's the first one of it's kind.
to Springfield Ave.
I sure hope its true!!
