Town Hall with Donald Payne, Thurs 7:30 pm

I read elsewhere that it was at 6:30. I'd like to go. What are some good questions?

Link still says 7:30. Do you remember your source for 6:30?

I saw it on Facebook, but I just looked and could not find it. However, I looked on Payne's page and that said 7:30 - 9:00 so I think you are right. Glad I saw this. Thanks! Are you going?

I hope to. I have to work tomorrow evening, but will hopefully be able to make it.

Ok, Angelak -- I hope to go too. Perhaps I will see you there. So, what kind of questions should we ask? Anyone?

I don't know. There are so many questions at this point, it's hard to formulate something succinct and meaningful.

I think 6:30 was for rallying.

I'm looking forward to attending.

I got there at about 7:25 and the police were not admitting anyone because the crowd inside was beyond capacity. The crowd outside grew until the Congressman came out and addressed us and took some of our questions. This mini meeting on the steps seemed pretty positive, I would be interested to know how it turned out for those inside.

I also hope that the Congressman will be scheduling more of these meetings in our community and, next time, in a larger venue.

I could not make it. Hopefully some people will chime in. I think it was also recorded and will be posted later. If so, I'll post a link.

The crowd inside the meeting room was estimated at 300, capacity for the meeting room is 225. The Fire Department was responsible for insisting the doors be closed when the crowd inside reached unsafe numbers. The crowd was very enthusiastic. Questions and answers were pretty much as expected and cover a wide range of mostly domestic human rights issues. Only two questions focused on foreign affairs. The meeting was recorded. Hopefully, we will be notified when it is available for viewing.

I arrived late and was not admitted, but waited around until the hall cleared a bit and was able to take a seat (as were many others as the evening progressed). As Joan Crystal says, the questions and answers were pretty much what you'd expect for this community and congressman. I think many of us are seeking more activism/leadership and may have come away frustrated, but I hasten to add that's probably more the fault of circumstances than of Donald M. Payne, Jr.

I was inside but I could not hear that well. I have a bad cold and my ears are clogged up. There were questions about Russia, impeachment and Steve Bannon. There was one question about the future of the Democratic party. There should have been 10 questions about the future of the Democratic party because from what I could hear, he seemed to think it was a problem of Democrats not agreeing and the need to be unified. He did acknowledge they were in trouble and losing members.

This same question was asked outside and much the same answer was given.

I wish that Booker and Menendez would have held town halls. It is hard to persuade the GOP Senators to do so when our own folk won't.
