Yes, I saw that, is this a first time that has happened?
I doubt it or Alex would have made a bigger deal about it. He just said goodbye to all three contestants, distainfully!
I was on Jeopardy the next show after all 3 contestants tied. it had never happened before, so there were 3 co champions
when I was on Jeopardy! All three contestants were new. in the previous show the winner won for the fifth time and was retired I've watched every show for25 years and never saw that happen
I don't get it. You were on Jeopardy the next show. Didn't they all come back or what happened? How did you do?

I think I remember seeing it once before, about 100 years ago, but it's still remarkable.
eta: Game 2 of the Trebek era, apparently. http://www.j-archive.com/showgame.php?game_id=174
Saw it. I thought for sure the third place contestant would bid the least since she was behind.
Strategy, she could have won.

The three contestants all replayed. After the second game, there was only one winner, who was the defending champ that I played against
Exactly! @phenixrising. I said the same thing. The two co-champions were tied for 1st. When I saw the 3rd place contestant bet it all, I said to myself, "what is she doing???"
I thought they all would've come back but when there's a three-way tie with 0 points each. everybody goes home, three new contestants.
Alex gave me the impression he felt like, "if you can't even manage to keep a $1, you all deserve to go home".
It's clear that in addition to having a wealth of general knowledge, to be successful on Jeopardy one also needs to be a savvy wagerer (quick on the button helps too!)...

Exactly. All of the show is filmed in real time (with us waiting out the time for the commercials) until the wagering. You have as long as you want to figure your bet out but it is nerve wracking trying to figure what the Other players will bet so you can make your bet. I screwed it up (wouldn't have won anyway but...) the third place guy really messed up this time but I understand.
Don't wait out the commercials. DVR it. Then you can watch the actual contest in 10 minutes.

You HAVE to wait out the commercials while you are filming it. Can't DVR real life
I think @Librarylady meant that as a contestant, she had to wait out time for the commercials...
I got Little Rock (primarily because I couldn't think of any other recent presidents who were from state capitals). Regardless, if I were the last place lady (who I think had $3000), I would have wagered zero, if I were the other two (with $13,800), I would have wagered $7,799 (in case I missed it, I would have had $1 more than if last place lady bet all and got it correct).

Cliff Clavin on Jeopardy:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=botdmsQilnU
two nights in a row with ridiculous Final Jeopardy question not one right answer from any of the contestants
When I was on, there was a series of difficult matches. Not just for me but for everyone else. For a number of weeks, there were very few repeat contestants, and even fewer return winners. I think that happens sometimes, like now, when they want to mix things up.

Good luck! If you pass, give them something to remember you by. They are not always looking for the smartest; they like quirky.
We had a category called "Boggle" None of the contestants had any idea what it meant. i got the 2,000 question correct because I just answered it without regard to what "Boggle" meant. During the break between Double and Final Jeopardy, Alex said " I never want to see this category again". To my knowledge, it has never appeared again.

I do think they have runs of difficult games. I'm not sure why but I've seen it happen.
All three ended the game with nothing. No one returns.
