Do you have any base molding that would account for that 1/2" ? (vs from the bolts to the wall behind any base molding?)
-Regardless, I'm calling that a 12" rough-in which is most of what is out there. -You may even discover that you have a 1/2' play after you pull the old one out depending on the flange situation.
Also, I have learned that when installing a new one, it is a good idea to have 2 wax seals on hand in case you screw-up the first one.
I've also discovered that it is easier to attach the new tank to the new base unit before installing and then install it as one piece. Of course it is heavier that way but you can straddle it, line it up and press it down. (Gee that sounds a lot sexier than it is).
LOL amazing someone can make all this toilet talk sexy...thanks, going with 12" rough in choice! FYI, smarts enough over here to measure to actual wall, not moulding - And thanks for the install tips!

Hi, without actually having toilet off and seeing the actual rough in - measuring from wall to bolt its 11 1/2 inches. IS that a 12 inch rough in or a 10 inch rough in. FYI, its a really old gerber, as in I cannot find the model # on it, and the manufacture date is 1979....
Thanks if anyone can glean from this information what size rough in..
