Tickets to Wicked?

My sister-in-law and niece would like to come up from Maryland to see Wicked's matinee on July 25. Anyone know of advance tickets that they can get that won't break the bank? Thanks

Plumbenefits.com has the following available for that show, plus another $10 service fees. Let me know if you need a code.

Premium Seats
REG. $202.00

$194.00
Orchestra Seats
REG. $142.00

$124.00

The cost of Bway is outrageous. Such a shame. Exclusionary theater. But Wicked is a great show!

The cost of live, Broadway entertainment is expensive, but imo you get what you pay for! The cost of theater rental in the theater district, the salaries of the performers, the support cast and crew as well as the amazing costumes, sets, lighting, live music - what do you realistically expect to pay?

Anyone who really wants to see a show can usually find a way to do it for a bit less, although you won't necessarily get the "best" seats and you may not get to go the exact date you want.

However, there are many, many ways to see a Broadway show, even on the day you want. Theaters do not want any empty seats.

I personally have a membership to Audience Rewards, which has some good deals as well as the opportunity to earn rewards that can pay for tickets, among other items. I often find my favorite seats (front Mezz) available for much less than Orchestra tickets.

Of course, for the very tight budget, there is always wonderful local theater, which costs much less to produce, but often is amazing! (Not to mention many local high schools that often put on very entertaining and well-done productions, too!)

Well, yes and no. I've gone to many, many Broadway shows (and many off- and off-off Bway productions), and some are clearly more worthwhile than others. And even the best shows are crazy expensive for orchestra seats unless you wait till the show has been around a good long while. Paying $300+ for two tickets to a 2-hour entertainment is a luxury that many people can't afford (and one of the reasons that Bway shows are mostly supported by tourist dollars). And we're not even counting the cost of transportation into the city, babysitters, etc. I love Bway shows, but I do cringe when I think that for $300 my spouse and could go away overnight and have a nice dinner to boot. Also, many off-Bway and regional productions can be just as enjoyable as Bway, if not more so, at a fraction of the cost. I'm thinking Kirby Theater/NJ Shakespeare and NJ Repertory in Long Branch, to name two in our area.

Unfortunately, you won't get Wicked tix on TKTS, but you can get great deals on a lot of great shows there. We finally broke down and paid the big bucks to see it and I was actually a bit disappointed. I don't know if it was the hype or just not my cup of tea. Loved the music, but I had heard that a thousand times already.

But, I know I'm in the minority on that, so good luck and enjoy!

Tips for last minute and discounted lottery tickets for Broadway, including Wicked:

We've won the "lottery" for Wicked, Newsies and Matilda, so it DOES work and is well worth trying (especially off peak tourist season, like Spring, Fall and Winter (except Xmas week))

Michael, how was Matilda? Got tickets in three weeks

just got an email from telecharge-wicked shows added-new matinee dates and discount pricing.

Matilda is phenomenal, I've seen it twice and would love to see it again. If you have sensitive hearing I would say take along a pair of ear plugs for a few of the songs (and I say this having worked in the record business for many years, so I'm usually not sensitive in this regard). There's just something odd with the sound design. Other than that, it is a 10!!
