See, that's the trouble with modern technology.
If, instead of all this newfangled equipment, the scientists had hired a tea lady - or maybe a few, to cover their 24/7/365 day roster - they could have had hot tea and other beverages delivered to their desks whenever they wanted it. And there would have been a decent kitchen, with cauldrons of soup and other healthy stuff which could have been simmering away nicely, ready for whenever hungry hordes of scientists would descend from their ivory towers.
But, no. They had to dispense with the human touch and, instead, instal a microwave oven, with it's beeps and boops and even, occasionally, pings (if they let it get that far)... for scientists are an impatient lot when it comes to food and drink, and they want things yesterday. There's no letting the machine look after it. No. They had to open the door before the genie had finished the job. And look where it has got them!
And we haven't even considered 'infinite improbability drives' etc....!! *emoticon*
Or...cooking? (Shakes head)
Actually, I admire how they persisted in resolving the issue, and also in how they fearlessly published the final findings. Especially with science-denying and -defunding federal government. It's this kind of bee-in-bonnet stuff that yields interesting information applicable to many fields and in all sorts of ways. But it's hard to appear the butt of jokes.
