We have a similar issue. People are muttering about providing roadmaps and some good lanterns so the leaders can find their way on that ashy road to a very hot place waaaaaaaaaaay south of anywhere earthly.

the GOP is going nowhere.  I think some of you have no idea how much hatred exists for liberals in general and the Democratic Party in particular.

just consider for a moment that in Alabama, it's considered worse to be a Democrat that it is to be a guy who creeps on teenagers.

there are tens of millions of people who truly believe that liberals are hell bent on destroying their way of life.  The GOP is their bulwark against that.

Exactly my thought. The best they can do is re-group which may be impossible. Many of them love playing footsie with racists, pedophiles and fake Christians while the other part of the party wants to rid the party of these monsters and concentrate on conservatism. Until they are seriously willing to disavow and extinguish all of what the Tea Party and Steve Bannon has brought in, they'll never be the same. Never.

A party of decent Republicans and sensible Democrats would maybe have about 100 members.

If they splintered off e.g., the Mitt Romney Sect vs. The Trump Sect, there will be blood shed. Bannon detests anything we consider normal and Trump, IMO, still takes cues from Bannon. Everyone who we thought could bring calm and a sense of decency into this young administration has let us down (hint, General Kelly). If Dems don't considerably man up, we'll get slaughtered. Even with infighting and splintering, the two groups, The Romney Sect and the Trump Sect, still have one thing in common: so called "liberal loathing." I'm not a strategist and have no idea how to fix what ails Democrats but if they too don't regroup and find the pulse of many, we could be facing 8 years of lunacy, criminal activity and chaos.
