The Maplewood Diner

Enjoyed a meal last night at the newly opened Maplewood Diner on Springfield Ave. Beautiful, clean, well lit, GOOD FOOD! Open 24 hrs!! Try it, you'll be glad you did oh oh

Parkwood has nothing to worry about. I went yesterday with a friend for a late breakfast/early lunch. It was uncomfortably over air conditioned. Piped in music was too loud and unpleasant. Hopefully service will see a big improvement soon. I can't imagine how it would have been if place had been even a little crowded. Food was delivered cold after a long wait. Had to ask three times for sweetener and waited so long for a coffee refill that I got up and brought my coffee cup to the counter and gave it to the waitress there to fill. Other than being cold the food was good and these issues can be fixed. I wish them well but I won't be back for a while

While it's not the Parkwood, I have enjoyed several meals there. I love the decor, and the bonus attraction of watching the NJ Transit busses going into the parking garage. If you have kids who love to watch buses you could have hours of entertainment by getting the booth with the best view.

Apparently it's a mixed bag with some people having great experiences and others, not so much. I will always love Park Wood, but want this one to do well also. I guess time will tell.

Are the owners the same as before?

No, and one of them is co-owner of the Tick Tock Diner on Route 3.

I've been there three times and each time my experience has been different. The service has varied, but the staff has always been polite and responsive.

The last time (about two weeks ago) it was clear that there had been some turnover in the kitchen. I heard the waitress was apologizing to another table for some errors in their order and parts of my pancakes were undercooked (I still had more than enough to eat).

With all the new construction in the area, they should have increased clientele. I hope they work out the kinks soon. The ParkWood is already very busy and for good reason. Maplewood needs another breakfast spot.

I think it's great and a welcome addition. Have had breakfast and lunch a bunch of times. Still love the Parkwood but there's room for two diners in my life!

Hubby and I went. A little chilly, but almost all diners go nuts with the AC at this point, so I wasn't surprised by that. Our food was good, and the service was fine.

I have been there a couple of times now. I really like the atmosphere and the food has been good. The owners/managers have always been very willing to help and ask how things are. I will be going back there again. There is room for three diners in town..

I wish them a lot of luck and hope they are successful..

BTW- they fill a void for the late night crowd since they are open 24 hours..
