The Elks are bringing a taste of the Austin music scene to our area this Saturday night!

This has kind of flown under the radar, but Austin based act, Mike June and the Dirty Exiles, will be playing the Elks this Saturday night. Local act "The Trim" will be opening.  Anyone going? 

Who are the officers/ owners/ whatever of Somamericana?

I would have loved to go, but I have other plans tomorrow night. I love Austin Blues and all that type of music.

Will they be serving Mexican Martinis?

Right now it's one guy's project, and I'm trying to help. Goal is to make this an Americana music series. I don't want to name the guy on a public message board, but if you go that night, he'll be there to answer any of your questions. If you want to get involved, reach out to me via a private message.

Apple44 I know nothing about that particular beverage, but if you can tell the bartender what's in it and the ingredients are on hand, they may actually be serving that particular beverage.

Was only half-serious. It's pretty much a margarita, served like a martini, popular in Austin but pretty much unknown everywhere else.

3 ounces añejo tequila 
1 1/2 ounces Cointreau 
1 1/2 ounces fresh lime juice 
1/2 ounce green-olive brine from the jar 
a splash of fresh orange juice 
lime wedges and olives

Agitate everything in an ice-filled shaker, strain into small, chilled coupe or martini glass rimmed with salt. Add a couple of olives and a lime wedge.
