The Bee & Thistle may be closed for a couple days.

The quite well-known Bee & Thistle will most likely be closed for a couple of days this week. John, Eileen's Husband (my Dad) is currently in the cardio wing (Gagnon) at Morristown Hospital, undergoing some rather important and delicate surgery. Please be patient, the Dynamic Duo at the Bee & Thistle will be back in action shortly.

Keeping your Dad in my thoughts and prayers. Your folks are quality people ...

I truly thank all of you for the good wishes. I've been on MOL for many years, from “Nuggets Forever Thread”, where our long-term awesome friend (God bless her soul), just-the-aunt, brought us our rescue bunny, Nugget, or even the awesome MOL Story “Working Vacation” (it’s an older one, but funny as Hell) where a
bunch of MOL’ers present and past are center stage in an epic journey. I don’t normally bring up personal stuff around here, but, well, this one I found quite important, as perhaps do the many of you who have had interaction with John & Eileen, of The Bee & Thistle in Maplewood Village.

Mom & Dad, owners of the Bee & Thistle, have been a big part of Maplewood Village since 1973, when our family moved here from West Point, NY (Yes, the Military Academy, where Dad graduated
in 1962, after his Father in 1935). And to be completely honest, Dave, AKA Zeus on MOL, was my FIRST friend when we moved here. Dave is a man amongst men in noticing the awesomeness of newcomers.

This is a true community, and yes, Maplewood Village HAS changed since 1973, contrary to many threads. Having parents who have solely owned and operated a single business for more than 40 years in Maplewood Village, well, there really is no discussion for those who think differently, as they didn't witness it. Those saying otherwise don't remember Don the Cop, The Village Market (my first job), Peter's Bakery, TJ Marche, Delia's, Bert Miller's (where I first bought my reeds for my clarinet for Mr. Jones's class in 3rd Grade at Jefferson), The Childrens Place, McClintock's Florist, The Book Stop, even Bobbies Barn (a late comer).

Looks like I went off into a tangent. Mom & Dad will be back in the Bee & Thistle before you know it. Oh, and be sure to stock up on your Defcon Sauces!

Sending good thoughts to you and your family. Went through this with my mom. Before you know it your dad will be good as new. 3 months after her surgery my mom was back on the golf course ( at age 78)
