The "At" thing doesn't work right now, folks

Just a public service announcement. 

Typing @mrincredible will not flag me with a notification that I was mentioned in a comment, for instance. 

I notice people doing it still, and someone tried to reach me that way recently. I wasn't being rude. I didn't know until someone mentioned it to me in person days later.

Well somebody had better tell @dave and @jamie. There are plenty of times that I have used that function to notify @scully that somethings is being discussed that she might want to pay attention to. Thank you @mrincredible for making us all aware of this problem.  

Thanks for the heads-up. I recently used the @ to thank someone on another thread.

It's a feature that is still in progress.  We did have it working, where it sends out an email notification.  But we didn't have the ability to opt out of the notification which is just as important.  And I think another little issue with it is that it was another sending a notification when quoted.

Many things are happening behind the scenes, unfortunately the plans are top secret at the moment.

Since I was never aware of notifications even under the old format, I used @ simply to highlight names in acknowledgment within a post. Still seems to work for  that.

I seem to recall awhile back that there was a formal notification that @ was working but even immediately subsequent to the notification being posted, I couldn't get it to work for me.  Glad to know it was immediately taken down due to various issues and that it wasn't just my computer preventing it from working this time. 

Jamie:  This has proven to be a very valuable tool in the past and I hope it will be up and working in the near future. TIA.

It worked as recently as October (apparently I don't get @'d very often).
