thank you to the anonymous driver who helped when i was sick

To the passing anonymous driver who stopped, checked on me and provided water when I was sick and had to park along a curb to vomit several times directly following a meal in a MWD village restaurant, so many thanks.

To the nearby resident(s) who seemed aware of me but carefully looked away and just went about their ways, I hope that when any similar ill befalls you that you are lucky enough to encounter such a good Samaritan.

To the owner, manager, chef, staff of that restaurant--may the Department of Health find issues.

diner or burger place?

Neither.

I have eaten in or done take-out twice a week in the village for the last 8 years, all the venues, never gotten sick before.

It was lunch, Asian cuisine, one bit of chicken tasted strange but the rest were ok so I ate my fill.

I'm glad someone helped you, and I hope you're feeling better!

It didn't hurt long, which is I how I know it was the food.

I tend to be a negative person, I was so uplifted by her concern.

I'm glad someone helped you since you needed help. I admit I likely might not have stopped as I might have thought someone would want space and/or a little privacy if ill. I will know to ask next time

It's a tricky call, this day and age.

I had an arm against my car, when not turning to vomit. Could have been so many things.

And the person who helped me was of another race.

I defense of the unknown restaurant, sometimes it can't be helped no matter how many precautions they take. It's like getting a bad oyster once in a blue moon. In defense of those who looked away-- I have none. Glad you're feeling better (I hope).

I understand about restaurants (have much experience in and without). I've even cooked my own poisons before.

Thank you.

I think it is irresponsible to put blame on an "Asian" restaurant as the cause of your discomfort.....unless you have definite proof. Vomiting can be triggered by any of a number of causes.

Glad you are feeling better and that you got help when you needed it.

There are still good Samaritans around-glad yours found you! Glad you are okay.

I'll never forget the time that my bracelet broke and fell off my wrist one day when I was in the city. A hundred little tiny pearls scattered all over the sidewalk. I loved that bracelet because it was the first piece of jewelry my husband gave me. Two or three amazing, wonderful passers-by stopped and helped me find every single pearl from that bracelet. I was able to get it repaired good as new. I never got the names of the passers-by, but I wrote letters to several NYC newspapers thanking them for their help, and a couple of the letters were thankfully printed; hope the good Samaritans saw them!

I've looked researched food poisoning and usually it is said to take over 6 hours to set in, in fact.

I once went to an Auntie Anne's with my sister and we got those butter-dipped pretzels. We hadn't even finished them and we started puking. Something was rancid. It was awful.

From the NIH:

Symptoms from the most common types of food poisoning will often start within 2 - 6 hours of eating the food. That time may be longer or shorter, depending on the cause of the food poisoning.

and webMD:

Generally, food poisoning causes some combination of nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea that may or may not be bloody, sometimes with other symptoms. After eating tainted food, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, and vomiting, can start as early as one hour in the case of staph and as late as 10 days in the case of campylobacter.

On the contrary, I was being responsible by not being overly specific.

I've lived 6 years in Asia and go back annually, I know the food and my body's reactions to it. I happen to vomit very rarely, never from flu or disease, it's always been my stomach rejecting something rotten.

And if I had "definite" proof, I'd take it to the Health Dept.

Well I hope you are feeling better.
