My 93 y.o. uncle is a disabled vet. He has a disabled vet parking tag that is to expire this month. Since I know that Maplewood PD issues disabled tags, I called and asked if they issue the disabled vet tags that have the flag symbol and D.V logo.

The dispatcher didn't know the answer but transferred me to Debbie Giordano, the chief's assistant.  She looked up the information from MVC and sent me the link. 

We are on our way to getting the parking tag renewed.

To get one of these I think you do. 

A disabled veteran or Purple Heart recipient placard affords the vehicle owner the same privileges as the license plates.

Agreed.  Whether a disability is related to military service or not, someone who has served his or her country and is disabled should get every opportunity to display that to us all, even if it's just a tag with an American flag on it.  And anyone who sees that flag should be sure to thank whoever has it for their service.

And Formerly JJ, isn't it nice when community service people help, rather than complicate, 
the process of letting the rest of us know who deserves our gratitude.  Nice of you to call it out.
