Don't think you need an appointment for any of them but why not go to Newark?  Closer and rarely any significant lines.

A new vehicle gets inspected after five years. Others go every two years.

Rahway is closer than Wayne but worth checking the wait times at various locations.

Go on NJMVC. Some of the stations do require appointments.

It’s a trek, but I’ve done my last two inspections out in Randolph. From arrival to departure within 10 minutes, both times.
