Trump and his boy Christie

Trump now has Christie being his apologist.

The Justin Bieber song poses the question: Is it too late now to say sorry? That's never an issue for Donald Trump since he took Chris Christie aboard his presidential campaign.

Hours after the real estate mogul declared that women who have abortions should be punished,Christie said Trump had “misspoke’’ – only the latest occasion when Christie has rushed in on a rescue mission after a Trump gaffe.

A sampling of the New Jersey governor’s other apologies and rationalizations on behalf of Trump:

►When Trump gave an unconvincing disavowal of the support he was getting former KKK leader David Duke, Christie wrote it off as the result of a “bad interview.’’
►Christie said Trump was speaking figuratively with his prediction of summer riots in Cleveland at the Republican National Convention if supporters felt party leaders were cheating to deny Trump the presidential nomination. “I think you’d have riots. I think you’d have riots,” Trump told CNN. “I think bad things would happen, I really do. I believe that. I wouldn’t lead it but I think bad things would happen.” Said Christie: “I don’t think he meant literal riots.''
►On Trump’s vow to get Mexico to pay for a border wall – a proposal Christie mocked on a daily basis when he had his own presidential campaign – Christie now says Trump will use “diplomacy and other tools’’ to make our southern neighbor see things our way.
►Christie thinks it's unfair to blame Trump when chaos erupts at his political rallies."That's like saying, does a sports team have responsibility for a knucklehead running on the field?'' Christie said. “I think everyone’s responsible for their own conduct.’’

Matthew Hale, a Seton Hall University political scientist, said being apologist in chief for Trump may not be a dignified assignment for a sitting governor, but added, “The concept of dignity in 2016 seems to have disappeared from the campaign trail.’’

No kidding? May not be dignified? Its not everyday when one so blatantly owns a state governor as a personal b***h.

How low we have sunk. Considering who we elected should we be making fun of states like Wisconsin and Kansas for electing Walker and Brownback?

I'm guessing this is not how he saw his 2016 press coverage going:

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/04/01/nyregion/chris-christie-explains-mms-strategy.html

Have to admit, I never saw Christie - given his Trump sized ego - as a cheerleader for this woefully unprepared guy. Christie's got to know better.

He picked Trump before he found out the GOP decided better strategy was to back Cruz.

Well, Chris got his new job! Never mind that he is still supposed to be working for NJ citizens. He has been on a hiatus, but still collecting a paycheck, for months now. Not like he is missed either!

And I guess we know how he is getting paid:

http://www.ijreview.com/2016/05/601451-chris-christie-is-about-to-find-out-the-cash-reward-for-being-trumps-2-on-the-campaign-trail/

Why doesn't he just resign already? He clearly hates being governor and he's not the only one that's unhappy with the arrangement.

Christie -- easily the worst Governor in our state's history and his tenure can't come to an end soon enough.

If he could run for a third term is slogan would be, "At least he's not Paul LePage."

►Christie thinks it's unfair to blame Trump when chaos erupts at his political rallies."That's like saying, does a sports team have responsibility for a knucklehead running on the field?'' Christie said. “I think everyone’s responsible for their own conduct.’’

Yes, if the team says, "You might be justified in running on the field because the referee made a bad call. If you do and get arrested, we'll look into paying your legal bills."

So Chris has paid off his debt thanks to Trump. I guess standing behind Trump does pay off for some... I wonder how much more will come his way...

It seems it will even cover some of the bridge fiasco legal fees.

I dunno, in the pictures on nj.com, it sure didn't look like 1,000 attendees. And look at his poor kids. What a walk of shame. Mary Pat is just nuts. She scares me.

And Trump humiliated Christie with an Oreo joke. The guy who loves to bully teachers tucks it in his thighs to serve Trump .

I think that many political spouses suffer from Risus Sardonicus.

So are we supposed to feel sorry for Christie now?  Because I don't.

Remember when he was regarded as a tough, iron-fisted national GOP figure who beat up teachers' unions and other folks at various events? Very "pre-Trump."

The guy is clearly diminished. I think he missed his window last time around. He hadn't been really tested, character-wise, and coulda ridden a wave IMO. And frankly, he may not have become such a giant a$$hole had he run in '12.

The "tough guy" takes it on the chin when Trump publicly humiliates him.  (That is if Christie is capable of being humiliated.)  But let a teacher or a concerned constituent dare to legitimately question him on issues of concern and it's "Siddown and shaddup!"

Iven all this vitriol, "What would it take to impeach him?"  Who's willing to work for it to happen?

It's just amazing.   Christie has no dignity left.  Reaching down into the gutter to endorse the Trumpster is a slap in the face of the enlightened values of NJ.  Republicans here are concerned about less government, lower taxes all that stuff and not about religious bullshi*t.  Poor baby, let Mr. Christie go to a well deserved obscurity.

I think the question should be -- what on earth could the 26% who still approve of Christie as governor possibly be thinking?

If he is found guilty of anything relating to Bridgegate, can he be held financially responsible to reimburse the state for his legal fees?

When do I get my check?

Don't hold  your breath...

Does he really think he has a chance?

rumor had it that the Romney people dropped the big guy like a hot potato after the vetting turned up some questionable stuff.  I doubt Trump cares about any of that however.

I've lost track: what happened to the co-conspirators list?  When will it be released.

Saw this today. The next time you ask why  your taxes are so high, just start looking into who supported our politicians and who is getting their pockets lined for such support. We all know this is happening but some instances are so egregious that really give you pause.

One of the unidentified co-conspirators filed suit to prevent the issuance of the list. I believe it is now in the Appellate Court level.
