I had the same experience at about 8:20 this morning.
Yes, the thread title definitely wasn't what I typed in. And, now I've discovered that a poster can edit the comment part of the post, but not the thread title.
I was there around the same time. There was one car ahead of me and I never saw a third one.

To edit the title, there should be an Edit button for you, the thread creator, when you view the list of discussions on the Main Forum page.
