I remeber Mr. Denk.  We used to bring in old Coke bottles  to Denk's grocery to get the  deposit money.  And, then use the deposit money at Toyland (down the street) to buy a new baseball.  Good times.

White Rose and S & W canned products.....  Ain't seen them in a while.

I recall long after Grunings closed both locations its hot fudge reappeared on shelves at Town Hall Deli.  I don't think anyone went to Grunings without ordering their hot fudge sundae. 

He used to roast the coffee beans and grind them right there while you wait. 
Remember the green grocer who was next door to maplewood tire? It was sad watching him grow old and his business just dying. 
Springfield avenue has changed so much in what seems like a couple of decades. Oh well….
