National Ice Cream Day

I don’t know.   But I think it’s a good day to try out the new SOMA Sweets place on Vose across from the SO Post Office.  Regardless of specials or discounts. 

We’re big fans of Carvel. But there’s also Coldstone Creamery in South Orange. Maplewood has Village Ice Cream and Dippy Sippy (I’ve never been). And Honey and Hive as well. I don’t know if any of them are doing any promotions. 

I love ice cream. Any kind. Soft serve from a truck or a Carvel Flying Saucer, a cup of expensive Haagen-Dazs or any other brand. Almost any flavor (not coffee). 

Village Ice Cream no longer carries chocolate chip. That sucks.

Chocolate chip isn’t in the top 10 of flavors as monitored by the International Dairy Foods Association. (The top choice, as per their consumer survey: vanilla.) Owing to reduced sales, many ice cream manufacturers relegate chocolate chip to certain markets, as a seasonal offering, or simply don’t sell it at all.

They haven't had it for years.  i miss it too.

Phoooey. Chocolate's popularity is pushed by Russian bots and industry lobbyists and propaganda.

Hot take(s): Chocolate chip ice cream, with chips frozen, renders the chips tasteless! Chocolate needs to be at room temp or warm. (Chocolate chips added to ice cream upon serving are great!)

Vanilla is my favorite flavor, but you don't order that at an ice cream parlor!
