Great Job! He sounded like he needs to live in independent living instead of assisted. Let's see if he appears in public for the next few days or he needs to "recover." They juiced him up the best they could and he got through an hour long "Big Boy" press conference (which was held much later than originally planned). This is the pathetic standard we now have for the office of president of the United States And that's not even mentioning his unhinged warhawk foreign policy which I discuss in a different thread.

Every sentence in your post is a rationalization.
since the debate, Biden has made numerous public appearances. (I think I read 18. In the same time period Trump held zero.) Then he led a NATO summit. And he ended that period with the press conference.

Yes, they do but they don’t think it will affect them directly. They don’t realize how far up the escalation elevator we have gone. Driven by a guy who should not even be driving.

do you think the country's warhawk policies will change with anyone else in the office of POTUS?
Anyone else who could be elected that is.

Trump might end Ukraine. He can blame it in Biden. Maybe. Hope springs eternal. Otherwise the same or worse.

Trump might give Ukraine to Putin, and heck let China take over Taiwan. And then that's great for everybody, because it won't affect anyone here in our little suburban NJ town, of course.
And surely putting Trump in charge to do that is worth the continued reduction in civil rights, women's rights, environmental protection, LGBTQ rights, religious liberty, etc. if that happens, right?

I was just thinking about this yesterday, along with the word uniparty. A nan favorite. (uniparty is a less than useless term.)
The fact is that there are vast differences between the Dems and R's, and getting vaster, but there are certainly areas where their positions are very similar. War mongering happens to be one of those. And, and as you say, this is because the public is supportive of those positions. Partisanship is secondary.
You can argue about whether the public and/or the position is correct, but that's a completely different subject.

I did not say to vote for Trump. I think the real point is that we have two terrible choices for president. Also this thread is about Biden’s brain. Do you like Biden’s brain?

I would take Biden’s brain over any conspiracy theorist’s brain… any freakin day!

I'll ask you the same question I ask a couple of other guys, who can't answer it.
Tell us what's wrong with Biden's brain.
Evidence.
And don't tell us how he's a warmonger. Different question.

Foreign policy is the president’s main job. That’s what Biden talks about and is clearly the topic on whatever brain cells he has left. Considering we are closer to nuclear Armageddon than ever is it a good idea to trust that to Biden? I think not.

it is morally wrong for sure.
But of every quality of our country, the typical American is probably most proud of our military prowess. And an amorphous notion of "freedom," that of course only exists because of our military.
It will take generations to change that aspect of American identity. If it ever changes at all.
So as disturbing it is to me how much killing is done in our name around the world, it's pointless to base a presidential vote on addressing it when all the candidates are essentially the same on militarism.
Sigh. Another Nan show. Boring.
With regards to Drummerboy's question, it's academic. He can't and won't win reelection and, consequently, if he continues to be the candidate, Donald Trump will be President.
Sadly, at this point, I think we have missed our window. If Biden had acted as a patriot and stepped aside on the 4th of July, we could have conducted a sort of flash primary and decided at the convention. The time for that has passed.
This Fall will be a disaster of epic proportions. RIP USA.
Anyhow, I am going to sign off for a while now. Like I said, the window has closed.

I'm here through the convention, if Biden's the nominee. If he's coronated next month, I'm out 'til after the election.
No one, who has gone public, has given Biden a neuropsych exam, so everything is speculation. But you can certainly infer from his unscripted moments that are made public, that he has some form of cognitive decline. Early onset dementia, perhaps.
Memory loss
Difficulty communicating
Trouble with visual and spatial abilities
Perhaps, disorientation.
I don't think he would do well on a neuropsych exam that tested his problem solving, attention, and memory.
Wrong question...BOTH candidates are of questionable capabilities when it comes to being "fit" (whatever that really means) to hold the Presidency. Period! BUT, they are the choices we have. More apropos is to question which of the candidates is MORE capable, or "fit", to be President for the next 4 years, and vote accordingly. That call seems exceedingly easy.
The real question to answer is whether Biden can beat Trump, since his fitness advantage does no good if he can't win. The current "debate" is doing as much damage as any gaffe he has ever made, and probably a lot more. To continue this is only allowing Trump to show the minimal instincts he has by keeping his mouth shut and letting us Dems tear ourselves apart. Joe has made it clear he's not going anywhere. It seems to me the only correct response is to tuck any of our misgivings in our pockets and get out there campaigning hard to help him get elected. To keep up this bedwetting guarantees Trump wins.

Lot of good that does.
The damage done isn't just that debate. That broke the dam of the many other stories.
"Rocking the crowd" or whatever is not reversing the narrative of him being enfeebled which now seems embedded in the American psyche. He's still losing, unelectable. Not after all those stories.
I hoped that narrative would have been reversed or mitigated.
His administration did generally a very good job. Yet, he's blamed for stuff like inflation, even though a world wide problem with us having the lowest inflation in the industrialized world.
Also, many of the young, who tend progressive, are not excited by the gerontocracy choice served us. A younger more fiery Democratic running against grandpa Trump may just get enough of them out to make that difference in the critical states.RDavis said:

If you read any of my posts, I am a fan of age limits, and term limits, I was one of the few who argued against Markey when he was challenged by Joseph Kennedy, But I supported Elizabeth Warren who is not as young as some of the former Primary candidates so, I'm flexible.
As for my comment about Biden "rocking the crowd" it looked to me as if he had some strong union support in Detroit and Michigan is one of the 3 states that the Dems are hoping to win.
Biden was not the top pick in the Primaries here on MOL but we are not representative of the swing states and whether we like it or not they get to pick. Is anyone here getting polled?
So if Biden drops out and we get someone young and fiery, I will cheer loudly. But if Biden is our candidate I'll cheer him on as well.
I'm a pragmatist. I just want Dems to win. And if young voters across the states have no fear of a national abortion ban, then they are not as pragmatic as some of the seasoned voters are. When I argued with people who were ready to vote for Trump in 2016, many women rolled their eyes and said Roe would never be overturned. I get no pleasure in saying "told you so."
“Do we really want to go back to the presidency of Donald trump?”
That’s the question! Democrats shouldn’t be showing doubts and publicly criticizing Biden like they’re doing! WTF is wrong with democrats? Get your **** inline and vote blue! I don’t care if Biden ends up in a nursing home after inauguration next January! Stop giving ammunition to these morons who are destroying the very constitution of your country. I can’t believe some of you people! Holy siht!

There is no evidence that he isn't. Not that I've seen anyway. Maybe others have better eyes than me. Maybe I'm not paying attention.
Evidence in this case means verifiable instances of some kind of mental deficiency that has materially affected his decision making or some other aspect of presidential duties.
Seems like a reasonable standard.
It doesn't mean polls. It doesn't mean unsubstantiated claims. It doesn't mean vibes.
It doesn't mean the Hur report.
It doesn't mean accusations of a coverup of ... things?
It doesn't mean occasional verbal stumbles. Or the use of teleprompters. Or failing to hold some imagined minimum number of press conferences.
It doesn't mean walking stiffly. Or wearing sneakers instead of dress shoes.
The only thing that even comes close to meeting the criteria is the debate, but even that doesn't really make it. A debate has nothing to do with presidential duties. His performance was disturbing, certainly, (it had me kinda panicked for a day or two) but we don't really know if its indicative of ongoing issues and based on what the public sees it isn't indicative of that. His performance since then certainly doesn't indicate that.
Meanwhile Trump continues to babble on about Hannibal Lechter and accusing Dems of killing babies, with no consequence.
It's a beautiful world we live in.
