"Was it something we did in another life?" asks the GOP...

https://youtu.be/SKhfKprc6S0

The GOP realizes that it has become a reality show gone horribly wrong ...

If it has to be a reality show, couldn't it be based on the Hunger Games?  Every 4 years the GOP sends 50,000 tribunes from each state and the survivor becomes the nominee?  I can't help but think that system would quickly make America great again.

Though I almost certainly disagree with Art’s choice, I prefer his attitude to the pearl-clutching Republicans lamenting about how they got saddled with such a poor nominee. Sorry folks, Trump IS the modern Republican Establishment even if you don’t want to admit it.

Don’t complain about Trump’s ludicrous allegations about Sen. Cruz and his family after you tacitly backed his ludicrous allegations about President Obama.

Don’t complain about Trump’s rudeness after you lionized a Congressman for heckling President Obama during a State of the Union address.

Don’t complain about Trump’s vulgarity after you went along with the gross rantings of Rush Limbaugh, Steve King and others.

Don’t complain about Trump’s lack of policy specifics after you could not put together anything more substantial than “Oppose Obama” in eight years, even with large Congressional majorities.

Don’t complain about Trump’s inability to get things done in Washington after you won’t even schedule a hearing on Judge Garland’s Supreme Court appointment even if it is to summarily reject him.

Don’t complain about Trump’s alienation of large groups after crafting an election strategy based on restricting the voting rights of groups you believe don’t favor you politically.

Well said. And it articulates why Trump is actually the logical GOP choice. He's Frankenstein's monster for them.

Yes!

Bravo.

And, although he's now just a bad dream, the other choice was Cruz and we could well be clucking about how they ended up with him.

There have been many opinion pieces and other articles written about how Kasich is the logical choice for "reasonable" Republicans, how he's the only one who can win in the general election, etc. And yet, voters have consistently not turned out for him. I know many Republicans personally who are horrified at the thought of Trump, but what are they to do now?

Switch parties. Theirs is gone. The national GOP killed it with their hatred.

Stephen Colbert has covered this already.  Can't wait for the Cruz one tonight.

Right.  But if we really want to improve the body politic, we need to increase the participation of the Republican base in this ultimate selection process.  They are, after all, the ones who gave us this crapocalypse.

Well, some of them are. But a lot of people have switched parties or voted for the first time too, right? I don't have a statistic handy right now but that was the whole uproar in NY, that even his own children didn't get to vote for him because of the rules; presumably they were not register Republican voters before or they wouldn't have had an issue.

I thought the thread title was about sex.

Donald Trump IS a rose in a fisted glove, fwiw.

No, I don't really know what that means.

I'm not sure Donald Trump is much of a dove... but this eagle ain't flying with him.

The situation is simple.  The party does not like Trump............He is not an insider so they

would rather just go through the motions of supporting him than do so.

They have given up the next four years rather than see him in Office

Well, it is about one party getting f$%^ed.

As Gail Collins said, Cruz and Trump are fear and loathing, respectively.

Stand on principle GOP!!!  Stay home in November!

Sadly, Trump wasn't the worst of the GOP candidates

Hard not to agree with someone who didn't say anything.

He, Trump's latest "genius" idea:
