Clarence Thomas: Courageously post-racial. You have to admire him.

Supreme Court sides with death row inmate in racial discrimination case

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the 7-1 decision. Justice Clarence Thomas was the only dissenter.

Thomas is positively bloodthirsty. There's no punishment too harsh that it could be considered "cruel," no twisting of procedures so unfair he wouldn't call it "due process."

As long as somebody dies, he's totally cool with it.

Thomas just continues his run towards being the most retrograde justice since Reconstruction.

I guess everyone needs a goal.

I wonder if he asked a question.  What a sad excuse for a Supreme Court Justice.

Honestly, he is just about the only SC justice that I have never felt cause to admire.  I may not always (or even often) agree with some of them, but I do find them worthy of respect and admiration.  Not Thomas.

I'm not a Supreme Court historian but could he qualify as the worst Justice of all-time?

That would be Roger Taney,  "most remembered for delivering the majority opinion in Dred Scott v. Sandford (1857), that ruled, among other things, that African-Americans, having been considered inferior at the time the Constitution was drafted, were not part of the original community of citizens and, whether free or slave, could not be considered citizens of the United States."

Clarence is in the bottom ten.  It's a shame he followed a giant like Thurgood Marshall.
