Al Franken for Veep!

It sounds like a very good idea to me. He's a very smart guy, and he calls BS when he sees it.

Damn, that would make me really, really happy.

i would galdly support

I like Al Franken, but I personally would prefer Elizabeth Warren for Veep (although I seriously doubt either woman would agree with me)!

I just can't take Al seriously.

He is a very serious person. And he is well-educated enough to know who said that being VP "isn't worth a barrel of warm piss".

My problem, not his, but I can't help but sing that SNL song he used to sing in the Canadian sketches.

I don't get it.  Why give up a barely-won Senate seat?

He barely won it the first time, handily won it the second. And if he has to resign to be VP he is replaced by an appointment by the Democratic governor.

I think its important to have great people in the Senate.  I would prefer a retired ex-senator or a governor to be the VP.

I think we desperately need both Al Franken and Elizabeth Warren in the Senate.  The VP slot is a terrible place for such important Senators.

How do you think the POTUS can operate without smart Dem senators in place?

Bad strategy to even consider either of them, IMHO, and I love them both.

I tend to agree with you, only because Congress is in such bad need of strong leaders at this point in time.  But hopefully that will be taken care of if people don't keep voting for the obstructionists.  In the meantime, the pool is so small to pick a viable Veep......somebody is going to have to be sacrificed.

Agree.

Ever see Al draw a map of the U.S. freehand? Remarkable precision. I do wish he hadn't given up being funny in order to be a credible senator. He was a hoot.

I saw him do that many years ago on David Letterman.  He said he originally learned how to do it because of a bar bet.

Two peas in a pod... IDIOTS!

Thanks for once (yet) again raising the tenor of political discourse in our country, Art.

BTW: Speaking of tenors, January 8th was a Saturday, five years ago.

This piece came out the following Tuesday. Can somebody explain an aspect of this issue that's changed for the better thanks to Republicans?
