Spider Identification

Any thoughts of what type of spider this might be? We plan to relocate her to the other side of the window but would like to know what we are dealing with before attempting to move her! She is about 1" long with variegated striped markings on her legs.

Orb Weaver?

It looks like an orb weaver of some sort. Does it spin a classic, symmetrical spider-web.

That was my thought because the web is constructed like an orb web. It is quite amazing to see the detail up close. Now we are trying to figure out the best way to capture and release!

That is the North American Oh Sh!t spider. So named because that is what is what is usually heard when one gets inside a house and drops down from the kitchen cabinets while you're trying to wash dishes. I don't recall how we were able to relocate it outside, I've probably blocked most of the memory.

We had one outside our window once and I used to watch it. A gnat landed in its web and it didn't even flinch. Then a yellow jacket landed in the web and that thing pounced on it. A freaking yellow jacket! Any spider that can happily make a meal out of a yellow jacket is a spider I will steer clear of.

Spider update-She has been contained and released to a lovely area of the garden...and thanks for the laugh spontaneous!
