It’s not just South Orange, it’s nationwide issues w postal service. We did receive mail today in South Orange, but not yesterday or Monday.
We received mail yesterday, but not Monday or today. We are in West Orange. And our mailman is amazing normally!
Processing stations were stacked with packages prior to Xmas.
This is the result of the 2006 Republican effort to bankrupt, then privatize the postal service.
Congressional members of both parties are now organizing to rescind the pension funding law that caused all this trouble.
My sister in CA mailed something to our mom in N.J. It went to Jersey City, Kearney and then Teterboro - then back to CA. Then back to N.J. and then back to CA and now it’s headed back to N.J. Makes no sense, but my sister has been tracking it daily.

well, she obviously paid for the scenic route.
We got mail in East Orange today -- YAY!! (Except that it was all BILLS!) Quite a surprise, since they haven't even cleared the sidewalks in front of the apartment buildings on my street yet.
Our mail yesterday included a sample box of bone marrow cat food! Somehow our carrier was stuck bringing mail addressed to occupant door to door on the first day after a major snow storm when many are still digging out. Does that make sense when the USPS remains backlogged from last year's debacle?
No cat at our house and no one I know has one.
Most of the mail we have sent in the past few months has taken a very long time to reach its destination. Christmas cards took about 18 days. Priority Mail packages sat in one transfer location for more than a week before continuing on their journey. We even received a notice from American Express (emailed to us) that most mail will likely be delayed by the USPS, and recommended using the American Express website for all communication instead.

I got that, too. I wonder if that is Amex taking advantage of the situation to try and move more people over to paperless accounts which would save it money.
We had about two feet of snow over three days and it was snowing again this morning when I woke up. Some residents haven't shoveled yet, others still have serious icing where they had not been able to clear to surface of the sidewalk/driveway. Recycling was rescheduled twice in Maplewood and finally canceled for the week. Trash pick-up was rescheduled twice and I still haven't made it to the backyard to see if it was finally picked up yesterday. Severe weather conditions can impact all sorts of delivery services, not just the USPS. That said, I received mail regularly this week once my sidewalk, path to the house, and sidewalk were cleared. I think it depends on local road/sidewalk/entryway conditions.
I sent out 8 bill payments on 12/12. So far today 2/5 two checks have not cleared. I have to assume that they were lost, not delayed. One of the payments is my driver's license renewal, so now I'm going to Springfield DMV to try to sort it out. Not looking forward to that.
I have never had this happen before. The USPS is getting to be Third World eligible.

We received our mail for the 1st time since Saturday last night - Thursday after 6pm. Our house was cleared out from the storm by Tuesday early afternoon and all of the houses on our block have been shoveled by Wednesday, if not before. I think it's a bit more than weather related, although some of the college rentals in the Seton Hall area do not shovel. The owners of these properties do not manage them properly that's for sure.
We haven't received mail since Saturday. I know there was a storm on Monday but you would think there would be a delivery today - Wednesday. The service continues to be horrible and sporadic.
We sent out 10 Express mail packages with cookies on December 14th, with delivery to be within 3 days - most of the packages weren't delivered until after the new year. One went to Idaho and was received around the 21st of December but one that was going to Brooklyn wasn't received until January 3rd, being held in Newark for an extended period of time.
Anyone else having issues?
