Snow forecast?

Looking at wu, they are forecasting 3-5in of snow next weekend, weather.com is not, just curious what our weather experts think... max?

I wouldn't take a week-ahead forecast seriously, from any source, at least for a fairly minor event such as this.

Making plans for the weekend and I figured if there is 3-5 in of snow, it will be the first snow of the season and might cause travel issues.. but yes I agree that trusting a 1-week forecast is a bit ill advised..

While the models are showing a small system for Sunday, it is way too early to make any sort of prediction.  I would not be surprised to see a couple of inches, but I would be surprised to see a serious storm.

I'm flying home from vacation on Sunday afternoon so I hope that any snow is over and done with by then.

The forecast I'm looking at is showing Saturday and Sunday reaching the 40s and rain on Saturday.

Also possible, based on the models.  That is why one must look at forecasts beyond 3 days with caution, and beyond 5 days with great caution.

NWS says chance of rain or snow on Saturday, with less of a chance on Sunday.  All other internet and media sites are going to be less accurate.  The forecast will change every six hours until at least Wednesday.

Again, the one thing I am fairly confident of is that this is not a big storm.  There is no blocking high or other reason for the system to hang around, so it will move through quickly.  There is not a big moisture source, so there cannot be a lot of snow or rain.  

The only reason we are even talking about this one is that this winter has been so boring so far.

I need to know the forecast for the morning of Feb 6th. Flying out to Fla to catch a cruise.Don't want to miss the boat!

The little graph shows a small amount of snow on Tuesday - I do hope it is small; we have to go to a funeral in Staten Island on Wednesday morning.

We have vacation plans for early February. If there is a big snowfall before then, it will change the schedule at the school where my wife works, and it will mess up our vacation plans. We "can't afford" a snow day before then.

But after we get back, I want snow so I can try my new winter bike tires.

Never fly out the morning of a cruise especially in February! Get there day before.

You're looking at a chance of snow showers without measurable accumulation.  I wouldn't worry.

You're looking at a chance of snow showers without measurable accumulation.  I wouldn't worry.

and the wind is coming up...

I'm not psyched to drive home in it though, even if it doesn't accumulate. Sigh.
