Small kitchen redo questions

I want to update the flooring in my kitchen. Does anyone know a good flooring expert to help with a tricky layout and uneven floors?  Tia

Depending on the sloping, there are leveling products that you would spread out over the subfloor. This would allow tile over them. If you are thinking wood, it is not as hard as one thinks to level current subfloor using shims and plywood to accommodate new wood flooring. Especially true if the space is small.

When we redid our kitchen, major reno, we retained the subfloor but added a bed of mortar to level the entire room. It ran inches thick in some areas because of the sloping. but that is a large space with large tile.

Thanks rowerg for the info... I should have added that there are some structural issues where the weight of the mortar  (or concrete as is also suggested), may be prohibitive, unless some further work is done, which I am trying to avoid. Do you have any recommendations for someone who can come in and advise different options? The structural person I spoke to said a good flooring/contractor would be able to give me options. I guess I am looking for a really knowledgeable flooring person to perform some miracles oh oh

I hate to say it, but if you have structural issues, it would be a lot smarter to put money toward resolving that rather than making it prettier. Structural issues never bode well if they are left untended, in my experience. At least, it can't hurt to get a couple opinions on what can be done and how much it would cost.

thanks peggyc. There are no structural issues at the moment, thankfully. I have had people in on that end.  Perhaps I should have just titled and asked for flooring experts... I'm going to change my first post
