SimpliSafe Recommendations?

I probably don't need it, but figure it can't hurt to install a security monitoring system in my new house. I've had other professionally-installed security systems in other houses, but I really don't want to spend $40+ a month for monitoring costs (never mind the costs of installation). I am also not interested in the national chains (ADT, Slomins, etc.)

I've been reading about SimpliSafe and it sounds exactly like what I need. Does anyone have it and do you have any pros/cons to report? Thanks in advance for your assistance.

My husband and I installed Simplisafe when we first bought our house. It was an easy buy for us since it was developed by my husband's business school friend. It was super easy to install and customer service was great. Unfortunately after about a month we returned it (for a full refund). For some reason we received a lot of false alarms. Customer service worked with us to reset the system on multiple occasions and try to find a better location for the system but it just didn't work for us. We were told that copper pipes in old homes can interfere with the system so maybe that's what happened. After that we got a system with Guardian and we've been very happy with it. Like I said it was a super easy install and returning it because it didn't work was hassle free as well. Maybe you'll have better luck than us.
