Sick on Jury Duty day?

First time serving jury duty (tomorrow).

I'm incredibly sick with what I think is bronchitis or Bubonic Plague.

Can't find any info anywhere on how to postpone jury duty due to illness.

Plan on going to Dr. in the morning so can get a doctor's note.

Has anyone been thru this?

I'm assuming this is Essex county? See FAQ#15 - call the jury mgmt. office b/w 8 and 9AM tomorrow morning.

Also, have you already called the reporting number on your jury summons? Your group may not be called tomorrow and you may be off the hook already.

Hasn't happened to me, but the FAQ's from the Essex County Jury Division website reads:

What if I become ill while serving jury duty?

If you become ill after checking in, do not leave before being excused by the jury management staff. If you become ill before you report for jury service, you must call the jury management office at 973-693-5913 ext. 56887 between 8 and 9:00 a.m.

That happened to me a few years ago. They were very nice about it, I called the morning I was supposed to go in, and they excused me and I went the next month instead. Feel better!
