Scotland Road Walkers...

Just when I thought that those who circle Grove Road sans reflective clothing were dangerous, yesterday and today, I saw a few people walking Scotland Road. No sidewalks were used. They were going against traffic. Walking. I know they aren't breaking the law but how dangerous is this? Scotland has sidewalks - why do they refuse to use them? I'm perplexed.

Can't speak for Scotland Road but I know some sidewalks by me just are not usable.  Some have sidewalks in very unsafe condition.  Some are overgrown with shrubs making walking on that portion of the sidewalk impossible unless one is wielding a machete.  Some are blocked in places by cars that chose to park on the sidewalk portion of the driveway. In those instances, walking in the street is necessary, at least for short stretches.

Walkers should carry Round-Up and apply it generously to shrubs blocking sidewalks.

I use to walk on Wyoming and always against traffic    There is a bike lane so I suppose that makes it safer than Scotland

Zombies.

If you must walk in the street, it is the law to walk facing oncoming traffic, so they can see you and you can see them a bit better. Not sure why anyone would avoid a sidewalk unless it is unsafe to walk on. With my lousy balance, there have been times when the road was the best available surface if I didn't want to fall down or break my ankle.
