School Resource Officer in SC

Have you seen the video? Can anyone explain this to me? How could there be a question about civil rights here? When will bullying in schools, all forms end?

I do know that CHS applied for funding for a "Resource Officer", but didn't get the funds. Rather happy over that.

They had police come in, guns and all, in holsters, in a Springfield MA high school when I was there in 2012. Hallways were often crowded. I don't understand the wisdom of that.

The cop in this case threw the girl upside down on her head. He could have broken her neck.

Where do these guys get off? Get some behaviorists on board.

I would be, too.

That video shows an assault, plain and simple. The officer should be arrested and charged. No question about it - especially because if the student had assaulted the officer you can be sure the student would have been taken into custody 3 minutes later...

My feeling, also.

And the arrest of the second girl, who spoke up and filmed the assault, needs to be vacated.

I only see one person who needs arresting here (and it's not a high school student).

This cop was known in the school as "officer slam."

Niya Kenney, her classmate, was arrested for standing up and saying "How can you let this happen?"

I'm glad the guy's fired, with the FBI investigating him. But the guy should be in jail for assault.
