Road Rage attack/incident

Shocking

Glad someone started a thread on this.. Change the title so readers know what you talking about and I am sure we will have a VERRRRYYY long thread

Scary!

Really, really scary. I can't imagine what would possess someone to do this. I hope the victim is okay, both mentally and physically.

Any news on the attacker being arrested? There is a picture of the car and attacker on Facebook.

(the silence is broken- does it make sense to have it in the thread title?)

I believe an investigation is in progress.

Is the Facebook photo available for all, including Facebook refuseniks, to see? Is there a link?

I may presume that based on the 120 comments on Facebook that MOL is discussing it over there.

I doubt it. My point was that the car description, license plate, and attacker description are readily available for the Police.

Where is the MOL page on Facebook?

While there is an MOL Facebook group (which only really gets posts when MOL is down) this is being discussed in the Swap SOMa Lounge. Do a search for it and the moderator should let you join so you can read.

Is it not allowed to copy the photos and post them on MOL? It would be a public service to disseminate them as widely as possible.

I didn't see any photos on the facebook site.

Also, apparently the police have all of the information about the driver as she filed a police report after the incident.

As someone who enjoys walking to/from the train & who must cross prospect every day, drivers need to get a grip. There are some really nice people who will stop if you are at a cross walk, but I sometimes feel like I'm taking a pretty big risk crossing that road.

The photos are no longer on Facebook. Hopefully, given the information provided, there will be an arrest.

I read the discussion on Facebook and cannot imagine why an arrest has not been mad

@aligrant, based on the Facebook description, I would agree. Wondering if there's additional information that isn't being made public. Or perhaps something is in the works.

Seems possible that the person in question has been identified but not yet located. Or has been arrested but it hasn't yet been announced. Whatever the case, I am 100% certain that our extremely capable police department is well in control of the investigation.

Wait, the *driver* filed a police report?? Or am I reading this wrong?

No that's how I read it - driver filed report on pedestrian hitting her car.

It would be nice if the situation were improved, but I'm not optimistic for you. I think the rudeness and endangerment by drivers in New Jersey is out of hand, but I don't see any solutions coming any time soon.

This goes far beyond run of the mill rudeness of NJ drivers, and into the realm of pathological criminal behavior.

While I am not blaming the victim by any means, I learned a loooooong time ago by almost getting the snot kicked out of me in downtown Newark, that you never touch someone's car. For some reason, it makes people insane... BUT I don't think it could be called assault and so the reaction was/is above and beyond the pale.

We may not know the entire story. Obviously, there's never a reason to attack someone but this suggests that there may have been more provocation than just yelling at them.

Oops, I didn't see MaryLago's post before I posted this.

Second Marylago. I have been known to hit a car that cuts me off in a cross walk. But it is an extremely bad idea and it has been a long time since I have done so as I do try to restrain myself from the impulse.

Not that assaulting someone is okay, but pedestrians still have to give cars a chance to stop before crossing..pedestrians must look for cars...even cars turning that do not have the right away.....and if someone else drives recklessly..you have to just grin and bear it...either they aren't going to care about getting yelled at...or will become more aggressive....

a person smacking a car is not an excuse to hit the person and cause injury..and it may be a natural reaction to push against the car to push yourself back and away from it

Why no arrest?!?!?!?

Do you have information that the police have decided not to make an arrest in this case? If so, please share.

I once hit a moving car with my hand. That's when I learned that I'll never do it again. Not because I got beat up or anything but because hitting a moving vehicle can cause serious physical injury.
