Restaurant at whole foods

Has anybody ever eaten at the restaurant in whole foods? Is it really open till 10?  I work late on Thursday evenings and am always looking for a place that serves late .

We have eaten there a few times.  Nothing exceptional.  I wouldn't rate it above any number of restaurants in our two towns.

The exceptional thing about it is it has a really good beer list. It's got a really nice selection of craft and local beers, and they're not too expensive. The food is decent enough as well.

They keep evolving it - from lousy to still lousy.   At least at one point the wine and beer options were good.

Kids love the free popcorn. Why doesn't every child-friendly restaurant do this? (From an adult POV, though, the place is a solid meh.)

When I went the food was fine, but between the really loud live music and the kids running around like it was a playground......we ate fast and walked out.

Great beer list.

The food is relatively good, the service is almost always slow slow. It's clear this is a secondary, not primary service for Whole Foods. I take my kids there. It's not a place for a quiet or romantic meal. It's a "watch the game" but with better food than bar food, kind of place.

Most importantly, yes they are open until 10pm. So its a good alternative to Wild Ginger or other places like that.

The acoustics are terrible.  The beer list is good.  The popcorn is delicious.  The food is average but on par with what's available locally so it's not a bad choice if you want a place that's open late.

We've eaten there a couple of times. The service was so slow that I could've done all of my grocery shopping in the time it took them to just take our order, let alone make and bring the food. And they took the veggie chili I liked off the menu.

They do take out too and I have the menu in my car. I was thinking of picking up dinner on the way home one night to bring to the kids' evening sports games. Maybe that will be less painful.

Honestly, I think the prepared food they have inside the store, whether its the pizza bar, salad bar, hot bar or soups is better.  Disappointingly, they do not make sandwiches to order in the store like other WFMs do.

In one of their iterations they had really good fresh pasta, but the service started out abysmal and got worse from there.    I really gave it more than a fair chance because I loved being able to get a glass of wine with dinner.   We haven't been back recently.

All righty then...thanks for the info.  Now I still need to finds a place that serves late without having them vacuum under my feet as I'm still eating.

Falafelly Yours in S.O. starts its weekend hours on Thursday (closes at 11), and many of the places with bars serve at the bar late.

The Corner Table at Whole Foods is no great shakes, but if your looking for a craft beer and a burger and something that your kids will probably eat you could do a lot worse. This is not an endorsement but rather a statement of expectation setting.

Service is spotty but if you go hang out at the register someone will come by and you can start ordering (they will often then say oh we can come get your order at your table). My biggest issue has been the place being closed for random reasons/odd times when I've actually chosen to go there for some reason.

The place is good enough for a restaurant outside of a supermarket. We didn't love our food the one time we visited, as I was expecting a similar quality to that served inside Whole Foods...it wasn't the same. I was the one in the family that suggested eating there after grocery shopping in Target..and believe me I had to apologize to the hubby, haha.

I've found the food to be okay. Not great, but worth eating. However, I found the acoustics to be horrible. The only way to carry on a conversation while eating is to be the only customers in there.

King Falafel in Millburn across from the Shop Rite on Main Street is open until 10pm. Their service isn't the fastest, but I've yet to get a meal that I didn't love.
