No chance. They really screwed the pooch.

A) Success! Nomination stolen. Massive numbers of Trump voters stay home in November, Hillary steamrolls pretty much anybody they nominate in Trump's place.

B) Failure. Trump wins nomination after months of fighting with his own party. GOP leaders are on record saying a Trump presidency would be a disaster. "Establishment" voters stay home in November and Hillary steamrolls Trump.

A win-win situation, I'd say!    

They should either split the party (almost assuring a loss) or back the Democratic nominee.

ABC News host George Stephanopoulos had to ask three times to get Trump to say he’d tell his supporters not to riot if he’s denied the nomination at the Republican National Convention this summer. 

“I would certainly tell them that, but, you know, look, these people are — are fervent,” Trump said.
