Today in the US Mail I received my Medicare Part A-B card.

I have known it was in the works, but when it arrived it hit me like a Rock in the Face. I can not deny it, yet I still think I am 35, have enough hair and I am funny.

This night, this event will be very hard for me.

Well at least if you do get hit in the face with a rock, you'll be covered.

But I know what you mean brother. I'll be 60 in five weeks which is impossible because I'm only 18.

If we are fortunate, the same thing will happen to us all, but it is an awakening of sorts. I'm doing the best I can to avoid all the AARP solicitations.

I'm looking forward to receiving my Medicare cards so I don't have to pay these exorbitant COBRA bills every month! Everything's relative.....

I've been on Medicare for seven years now. It's great, George. Mr. Lizziecat and I save enough on medical bills so that we can help our son cover the huge medical insurance costs for his family. Age is only a number, but in this case it's a big saving.

Social Security issues the card effective the first day of your birth month.

Unless your actual birth date is the first day of the month. Then they eligible you the first day of the preceding month.

So, if you're born May 1, then your Medicare start date as shown on your card is April 1.

Even though I'm only 27 in my head, I hit 60 this month myself, so I sympathize with you, George.
OTOH, hitting 50 was much more traumatic for me, so go figure.

OTTH (on the third hand), I got my Medicare card at 32, so you can imagine how traumatic THAT was! Still, I got over it fast when I thought about having no medical insurance at all.

I was secretly happy that I may have flown under the radar with AARP last year but I received something in the mail last week from them saying "hey, just in case you missed this." Yeah, 50 is not making me feel happy

Tonight my spouse is on a business trip. I am sitting at home alone, in the dark, playing Peter, Paul and Mary a bit loud, and playing back in my head where have those days gone. Of all the things I have known of, have actuality see, or have done; where have they gone?

I am at a stuper to even think about tomorrow.

Why am I trying to losing weight? Why am working out? Why do I work a 16 hour day? Why, Why, Why?

The book seemed to have mixed reviews, but I enjoyed listening to her. I think I'll give aging a chance. ; - )

Don't forget Peter, Paul and Mary! George, next time I see you, remind me to tell you about a party I was at, in Peter Yarrow's apt. on the Upper West Side. It was sometime after a recording session where we sang backup for them. If I'm not mistaken, Tom Reingold was also singing on it, though we didn't know each other at the time.
