Point Pleasant beach question

Thinking of going on a weekend day - how early should I get there to be safe that I'll be able to find a place to park? I heard it fills up pretty quickly.

My boys and some friends were there last weekend. One of the boys was able to find a spot on the street. The others weren't so lucky. One paid $13 in a lot and the other $25 at another lot. I think you'll find a spot, but you might have to walk a bit to the beach.

would you consider taking the train? you might have to park further away than the train station....I don't know the route/transfers, etc

if you drive to Linden NJ, there is only 1 transfer to get to PP...but if you leave from Maplewood, you have to go to Newark, then long branch, then pp

Send bgs a PM -- or ask her on her blog. She's a beach badge checker in Point Pleasant.

srg227-leave home at 6:00 AM-that will get you to beach before 7:30AMwhere you will be able to find street parking and then have some breakfast at Perk's on Ocean near Arnold Ave and then the ticket sellers will be on duty at 8AM and you will have a day of wonderfulness. Immaculate beach and excellent life guards. Very clean facilities in terms of bathrooms and on either end of the board walk (I am talking north of the pavillion there are out door showers to rinse off and bathrooms-there are also bath houses. I personally prefer to bring my own food but there is an abundance of food choices on boardwalk -for pizza I highly recommend Joey Tomatoes just south of the pavillion....Every Friday when I am on duty that is my weekly treat. And...not visit to Pt Pleasant is complete unless you have some Kohr's custard (soft serve ice cream)-it is the stuff dreams are made off!!

off topic, but..

bgs

did you happen to hear what set the boardwalk on fire Wednesday night? It was a small area across from train ride...just a little singed

Have not heard but will find out tomorrow when I am back at work.

Plug the address into Google maps and the choose arrive at and choose the time and date. Google will return an estimate.

Go to Spring Lake. 10 dollar for beach and you will find parking anytime you go for no charge. The only drawback is no coolers on beach and no food,

I don't know if there was something in the air last night, but the BENNYs driving home on the Parkway at 8 p.m. were a hazzard!! We had so many near misses - never experienced anything like it - and we make this trip almost every weekend.

The Parkway has really gotten to be a hazard any time of day/night nowadays. I was making three times a week trips during the winter/spring house hunting and even during the week, my going 75-80 mph in the right/middle lanes was too slow for these jerks who constantly darted in and out of lanes because we weren't going fast enough for them. I have to make a trip up to Maplewood later this week and I dread it because of the traffic.
