Platypus Pottery Studio

For anyone who knew Mr. Nose from Platypus Pottery Studio - He passed from this earth 2 days ago and is singing songs about Squids to the angels and checking nostril sizes as well.

So sorry to hear this My kids loved his camp at rikers hill back in the day. He had such great energy

Oh NO...my kids...now into their 20's had many birthday parties there. he was a funny guy. So sorry to hear this...

Oh, I was always going to look into taking lessons there! Looked like a good place. RIP.

He was so amazing with kids in small settings as well as in large classroom settings .
He could make anyone laugh and made so many kids smile with his silliness ..he just turned kids onto
pottery and trying it out .

What a ball of energy ...he will be missed but will bring a smile to my face when I think of him with kids in the art room and the smiles he brought to their faces ,
Learning with him was a joy .

oh no! I knew him as well. May I ask what happened?

Thanks for posting this, ilex. I took pottery classes there for a few years and heard recently that he wasn't well. I'm sad to hear this, and hope he's finally at peace. I look around my house at all the pieces of pottery I made under his (and a few others in the studio) tutelage, and I owe him a debt of gratitude for sharing his skill and love of making pots. Rest well, Don.

I did a bunch of portraits up there a few years back. He was such a sweet guy.

Dan was such a special person with a big heart ...he will be missed ... Some students became potters after working with him during residences ..

Wow! Such a loss. I wasn't aware he had passed; my condolences to his family, friends and students.

For anyone who's interested, Carla, a fellow potter, sent this to me:
