Pilgrim Pipeline

Did everyone get the letter from two of our representatives in the 27th Legislative district about pipeline supposed to go through our area? They claim they defeated it, but sounds like they just thwarted it somewhat for the time being. Google will give you plenty of background.

Yes, we got that letter and that part caught my attention too.

Information fro the NJ Sierra Club: http://www.sierraclub.org/new-jersey/pilgrim-pipeline

and a petition to oppose the pipeline:

https://www.change.org/p/us-army-corps-of-engineers-please-stop-pilgrim-pipeline-llc-from-installing-2-parallel-crude-oil-pipelines-178-miles-long-from-albany-ny-through-bergen-passaic-morris-union-and-middlesex-counties-in-nj

The coalition group that opposes the pipeline with a map too: http://stoppilgrimpipeline.com/

The letter said nothing of substance. I'm a Democrat, but I think our legislature is worthless.

Wasn't the colonial pipeline out of commission for like a week after Sandy? I mean...if everyone in NJ has recently traded their Yukon for a Civic we might be in good shape the next time disaster strikes - but that's not a trend that I've noticed.

If I read the attached map correctly, the closest the pipe line would get to us is Livingston/Madison. That does not mean that we would not feel the environmental impact should something go amiss. Towns as close to us as Millburn have passed resolutions opposing the pipe line. No indication is given on the interactive map as to whether Maplewood and/or South Orange have taken similar action. May be time to contact the TC/BOT and see if they intend to take a position on the pipeline.

I would rather have our representative s try to address the bogus school funding issues in this state. But that would take real work.

Take some time to read about it. Google it. The Pilgrim Pipeline is a serious issue. It may not threaten our immediate back yards but it does threaten our immediate neighbors. The tactics the interests behind the pipeline have used to bully the individual homeowners in its path are despicable. It's not about a better oil supply for us. It is about an opportunity for a business consortium to make huge profits at the expense of everyone in its path. Kudos to PSEG who denied Pilgrim the use of its right of way.
