Is it the responsibility of the homeowner where the hydrant is located or not since it is on the street side of the sidewalk?
Does it really matter who's responsibility it is? Just do it. Save you home and protect your community. Do you really want to say it wasn't your responsibility as you watch a home burn?
Geez, I was just curious. However, I did go out and do the hydrant a few houses away as I usually do.
Done. There is still 10 feet of unplowed street between the street and the hydrant but the hydrant is clear.
Code for America has an app for this which Boston uses. It is called adopt a hydrant. That could be more efficient than just social media. I think it would be a sustainable solution for the gas lights as well.
I applaud Howie's reminder but it shouldn't fall to him every time it snows. Plus, on MOL it devolves into a discussion that takes much more time than just picking up a shovel.
Good reminder. Thanks. The one up the street from us was cleared today.

South Orange firefighters need citizens to help clear snow from around fire hydrants in our neighborhoods. With your help, fire personnel can access the fire hydrants in the Village that can help save property and lives.
