Orthodontist Recommendations Needed archived

Just been told that my 10 year old daughter will need braces and has 5 adult teeth that are missing. I was told by our dentist that this it not common but does happen; the second teeth just don't develop. She will need braces both to close and straighten her teeth and to correct the gaps left by the missing second teeth. She will also need some implants where gaps can't be closed. We have dental insurance (Managed Dental Guard) but unfortunately it is very limited in orthos in our area. We went for a consult with an ortho in North Arlington (the closest I could find) and I think she will work out fine for my son who is a very straight forward case. For my daughter I would much rather go to an ortho who is highly recommended and has hopefully dealt with similar situations. I was told that it could change the look of her face/smile if not done properly. If you have an ortho that you really liked and would recommend and if you've dealt with a similar situation please let me know!!!

I'm not looking for orthos just in my plan; willing to go out of plan if the person comes highly recommended!!!

We use and love dr. Steinberg in Millburn. I have three daughters, all with different issues, and one thing I loved about him is how he explained why he chose a certain route and how it would help the teeeth and the shape of the face.

We love the calm, organized, professional, state-of-the-art environment in Dr. Mark Caplan's (new) offices above CVS in Millburn. He just put braces on my 11 year old daughter on Tuesday morning.
We have lots of experience with him because he did remedial work (poorly done job by a dentist) on my oldest daughter and did a great job on my middle daughter's entire ortho work.
You should go for a consultation with him at the very least. He LOVES what he does and would tell you if he has done similar work before. (973) 376-6611

One of my daughters used Dr. Caplan. The other used Dr. Kaswiner. I would recommend either of them very well.

Just started with Caplan - really like him and his office.
Like the fact that he's close - since in the beginning, we were there either every week or every other week between visits and lost spacers, expanding tools, etc...

As for implants - like Eskow in Livingston. He worked hand in hand with Muench for my challenging situation - I needed one of my front teeth replaced with an implant.

Another referral for Caplan in Millburn. Both of my girls had different issues and he was very thorough and personable. I also liked how he doesn't rush putting braces on, we had at least 3 consults before he actually started the procedures because he wanted to make sure all adult teeth were in.

Our orthodontist is Dr.Kevin Persley. He has offices in both Livingston and in West Orange.
I have the W. Orange #: 973-731-2468. He know what he's doing as well as he's fun--makes the kids comfortable.

Both of my kids were born with bilateral cleft lip and pallet. Needless to say, he had A LOT of work to do. He did a great job, and now they are seeing Dr. Arthur Greyf at DNA dental in Livingston. 973-535-4300 for implants. He is so up-to-date with the new and improving dental technology. He really knows what he's doing!

Both the doctors above are so nice with my kids (now 16, and 17), and really seem to care about them and the outcome of their treatment.

Another rec for Dr. Persily, who in many cases, is able to correct difficult orthodontic situations using removable retainers only. These retainers are worn after school hours and overnight. Terrific results. :-D

Strong recc for Dr Steinberg. A bunch of challenging issues here -- and he handles it all with aplomb. And his office staff couldn't be nicer to deal with and helpful in handling insurance stuff.

Another rec. for Dr. Caplan. Great doctor, staff and office. Good luck.

We have been going to Pearly Whites in Berk Heights and they are wonderful. They don't use needles for cavities, but put a laser around the tooth to numb it.

They also fixed my son's teeth, which had braces on them for three years yet nothing was happening to his bite. He put on a new pair, did a bit of magic and now his bite is next to perfect.

Love, love Dr. Steinberg (Millburn) Used him with child # 1 and again with # 4.
Works in tandem with our dentist (Dr Krosser) whom we love as well. Emergencies are dealt with promptly and with wonderful service and friendly attitudes. My daughter had a visit that was a little behind schedule, and does understand because we have been on both sides and want quality care. I recommend both highly.

Thanks so much for all the recommendations!! Now I feel like I have a place to start for both the ortho and implants.

Dr. Robert Rosen in Chatham.

Richard Bloomstein, Livingston

Dr. Steinberg put off putting braces on our son's teeth for almost two years, so that it would work out well and take the least amount of time: he had all sorts of issues, and now his teeth look beautiful.

Another vote for Pearly Whites. Dr. Michael the orthodontist is terrific and his wife/partner Dr Brooke is a pediatric dentist. They're Maplewood residents and have an amazing new office in Berkeley Heights. One stop shopping for all your kids teeth needs, and the atmosphere is super for the youngsters.
