Optometrist recommendation

Can anyone recommend an optometrist for an eye exam? I also need to buy new eyeglasses, so an eyeglass store/optician recommendation would be appreciated as well. I have a complex prescription, so I need someone who is smart, skilled, and precise. Thanks!

+1 for Sally Bregman.  She has an optician on site, Lillian, who is very good at what she does.

We loved Dr. Bregman. (We don't live in NJ any more.)

I didn't have the best experience with Bregman or her optician the last time I was there, but I do know that if she believes you need the expertise of an ophthalmologist, she will refer you.

The one I went to in Union when I was young was highly recommended by many people...at 7 I picked up that something was not right and I was very uncomfortable with him, but my parents insisted he was good.  At 13, he had a new partner that I saw...the partner picked up on an issue with my eye...that had been there since I was 5 (from an injury)....shortly after that, the old doc insisted my 90 year old grandmother with a weak heart had to have cataract surgery even though the cardiologist said her heart was not strong enough.  She lived about 5 more years--with cataracts and enough vision to function independently.  But other people still thought he was great....it is so hard to trust recommendations..

Optician:  Costco. Unless cost is no object.

Optometrist:  Dr. Sinoway, 07079 - if he is accepting new patients. If not,  obtain recommendation from him, especially as you mentioned "complex prescription".

Tried Dr. Bregman after reading reviews here, yelp and Healthgrades.  I have to agree most with the Yelp reviews. Dr. Bregman is probably the best eye doctor I've ever been to and I've been wearing glasses and/or contacts for 40 years. The optician in her office is not so great.

I will second the recommendation for Dawn Opticians.  She has always done a great job for us with glasses, has a good selection of frames, and makes sure you look good in them.  Our eye doctor is Maureen Considine, who we also love.  Very personable, listens to you, and goes out of her way to help.
