Oil to Gas Conversion Contractors

Looking for recommendations for contractors to handle an oil-to-gas conversion at a home with an in-use underground oil tank. I had an estimate for PSE&G that seemed high, and am looking to do this economically and urgently -- because my oil burner just died. Thanks.

Assuming you are talking about a boiler, Right One Plumbing and many of our local plumber companies do this. I think Woolley does too.

When we wanted to switch from oil to gas, we found out that the insurance on our underground tank (then currently in use) would be void if we "switched fuels."  Not knowing if the tank was leaking, we were unwilling to risk it.  We had the tank dug up shortly after and found it had leaked.  So, check with your insurance first!

We will probably try to just replace the boiler for now and stick with oil; the conversion right now as mentioned in another post below, could jeopardize our tank insurance coverage which we'll need either way when we pull our underground tank in the spring. Pulling the tank now, even if the ground wasn't frozen, would mean we'd have to stick with oil for a year under the insurance contract, purchase a new boiler anyway and an indoor tank....Will check into the companies you mentioned for replacing the boiler. Thanks for the recs.

There is a boiler for sale on swap right now.  Looking at photo I could tell it wasn't a Gateway install.
