Oh no! The Christmas tree house is for sale LOL

Drove by Prospect and the Crescents this morning and saw there's a For Sale sign in front of the house that lights up their big tree every Christmas. Like so many, my family has loved this generous holiday display. My kids feel that Christmas only really arrives when the lights first go on. So to the homeowners: thank you so much for adding to my family's Christmas memories, and best wishes for wherever your lives take you!

There was a "coming soon" realtor's sign out front for a while now.  I agree that this is a tradition that will be sorely missed.

Every good wish for a successful transition and thank you, thank you, thank you for your beautiful tree, lighting our holiday for so many years.

I believe that the current homeowners have been carrying on this tradition that was started by the previous owners, so we can only hope that the next owners also continue it.

it should be written in the sales contract

You beat me to the punch!  LOL!

I mentioned it to the realtor showing the house.  She said everyone has said the same thing.

Prior owners planted the tree but I believe it is the current owners (now selling the house) who came up with the idea of decorating it with lights for the December holiday season.

I think you're right. The current owners have been there about 20 years at this point.

What if the new owner is not Christian?

I think maybe this is none of our business.  You think?

This doesn't seem to stop anyone on MOL!

They'd better get used to the scrutiny.

I'm sure someone will mention it in November if there are no lights on the tree. But people will get over it and move on.

We now have a second town Christmas tree, in the Hilton neighborhood, at the intersection of Princeton, Revere, and Concord. Not on a major street so not as visible as the one on Prospect, but it definitely lit up our holiday this year. Thank you to that family as well.

Pretty irrelevant.  I believe I heard the current owners aren't either.

tongue in cheek people. Relax!

Keep this plastered to your windshields pre- Christmas, just in case.

Maybe those who are going to miss it could volunteer to help the new owners and it could become a wonderful community bonding thing.

The current owners are members of Morrow - as were the previous owners.

Ah  - I guess I heard wrong...

Does anyone know what tree service they use, and how much does something like that cost?

They used Carew to prune the tree and string the lights.  Stringing the lights alone took an average  of three days each year to complete stringing and test the lights. I don't know what it cost but I am sure Carew could give you a quote.

Here's a great story from a few years ago for anyone looking for more info about the family, the tree, and the tradition:
