Nursing Home Feedback Request
FIL has been in Daughters of Israel rehab and is now in a regular unit there. Nothing bad to report and everything seems to be fine. But no basis for comparison.
My mom went to Daughters of Israel, and I was very pleased with their care.
Bernie was accepted at South Mountain and will be moved there as soon as he is cleared for discharge. Thank you to everyone who helped with this decision. It is reassuring to know that Daughters of Israel was a good back-up choice.
My two cents: Recently had the same problem. Visited both South Mountain and Ingelmoor. Was turned off by SM, selected Ingelmoor. The care was very good - lots of helpful personnel on board. Rehab seemed to be very good. The usual complaint about food. Over all happy with the choice.
Keep in mind that most patients do not love their rehab facility. It's not fun to be in the position of having to go to rehab instead of straight home. Rehab itself can be difficult and exhausting.
This is a case where the best thing to do is to work as hard as possible at rehab and hope to get home as soon as it's feasible to do so safely and comfortably.
I am with Bernie now. He thinks a part needs replacing. I will reach out to plumbers as soon as I get back from visiting with him

Joan, I think you meant to post this in the other thread.
This post, in the context of this thread, is somewhat humorous.
My mom was in Ingelmoor Rehab for two months, with great results, she actually didn't want to leave
Bernie is being sent to a nursing home for rehab, probably today or tomorrow. Social Worker has asked for a list of three places to which to refer him. With little if any knowledge of the facilities in the area, I have given her the following list in order of preference, all three are covered by Medicare and all three are in network for his secondary insurance:
South Mountain HC, Vauxhall
Inglemoor Rehabilitation and Care Center of Living, Livingston
Daughters of Israel, West Orange
List is subject to expansion or change up to the time final action is taken to move him. If anyone reading this has positive or negative experience with any or all of these facilities or has another facility they would strongly recommend he go to or avoid, please post here or send a PM as soon as you can since this request is time sensitive.
