Not crazy about the new update to the old Arturos building in town

Not sure what to call the wood frames around the brick - but they've gone from white to gray.  To me they really made the building unique and they popped out.  Now it looks like they're just faded in.  Very drab.

That framing was white back when it was Pietz Bros.

the color gray has invaded everything in the last few years.. it’s depressing.

The wood frames are faux “half timbering.”

Gray..... everything's gotta be gray these days. Several houses on our street and neighboring streets have gone from white, blue, beige and whatever, to gray.

Restaurants have gone from whatever to industrial, gray and metal decor. All of it looks like the set of the film, "1984."

even the frikkin cars! Kitchen cabinets! Toilets! Maybe it’s just a reflection of society in general today…. 

Every freaking floor in Ohio is gray.

Let's just make all buildings gray

My friends lived in Summit. About 6 year ago, they had their stucco house painted at a cost of several $k. Then they had to move to assisted living for health reasons.

Real Estate agent tells 'em to repaint the house, gray, because millennials like everything to be gray. So again, several $k to repaint the house, gray.

and interior --- everything is supposed to be white with gray or black trim. --- More $k.

I wouldn't put a penny into that building. Look at it. The right side of it is collapsing.

As a former Maplewoodian who was there when Arturo's opened and who watched it grow into a foodie paradise, I have to ask:  what is going in the space now?

And most of the new apartment buildings tend to look the same.

I remember that property as Pietz Hardware store. Mr Pietz also owned The Winolear on Highland. His German wife was in charge of the hardware store.
